Spending time in the kitchen and cooking new recipes helps children to develop a positive connection to all different types of foods including fruits and vegetables. Forming a positive experience with fresh foods is so important because healthy foods are the foundation for good nutrition. Children will also learn basic cooking skills that they can use for the rest of their lives. They can help prepare food and cook.
Cooking with kids provides practical experience with many essential skills such as reading, following directions, and measuring. Getting involved in cooking helps your child to develop fine motor skills, eye hand coordination, and even early concepts of math and science. Cooking with kids is great family time. It is an opportunity to meal plan, look for recipes and share ideas on why and how to make meals healthier for the whole family. Our home economics summer sessions offer easy to make recipes for kids to follow along and learn the joys of cooking. We will be exploring things like no bake, and savory recipes that could be done using only a microwave! Letting kids become independent and confident with preparing meals and desserts and getting comfortable using new and exciting ingredients. It’s a great course for kids who enjoy helping out in the kitchen, maybe watching Food Network in their spare time, and kids who just really enjoy trying new things! It’s also good for kids who are a little apprehensive in the kitchen this way they’re in charge of seeing how things are prepared and venturing out of their comfort zone. Each virtual summer session will include a savory microwavable recipe and a no bake dessert recipe taught by Team ELM members along with other children who are also taking the course! We are so excited to get busy with food and fun this summer in our home economics session! NOW ON SALE!! Team ELM Tie Dye Tee for a Cause! ONLY $16! If interested please email us at info@teamelmnj.com Here at Team ELM we realize that during these difficult times schedules have been off, plans have been canceled, and things like summer camp may not happen for your children this year. Our plan this summer was to offer our summer sessions, which would have been held at our new store. Our goal was to offer a fun new learning experience filled with different activities for your children that we were equally as excited about to be a part of and to watch your children grow and learn. The new plan is to offer summer sessions virtually, we have sent out applications for parents to fill out for any of the summer sessions listed below that you may be interested in. Our new goal is to do our best to give your children a little bit of normalcy, fun and a way to occupy them this summer. All summer sessions will be led by one or two Team ELM members along with other children that have signed up for those sessions. Below is a detailed description of each summer session offered. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out by email at info@teamelmnj.com or give us a call at 732-301-7015! We look forward to seeing our kiddos (virtually) this summer!
